Eat, Drink, Be Merry: Park Circle Edition

2

I moved to Park Circle eight years ago, and I can say with certainty that I still have not tired of the restaurants in this neighborhood. If you’ve never ventured over here…what are you waiting for?!?! Here is a (very abbreviated) cheat sheet of Park Circle restaurants that you should check out. Like, now.

(**Warning: I got so hungry while compiling this list, I visited the kitchen twice for snacks. My dear-hearted husband theorized I might be pregnant again, and after inhaling sharply, I explained the subject of my post. He responded by calling out his favorite Park Circle eateries. What I’m saying is…grab a snack and settle in.)

A Meal with the Kiddos: Sesame Burgers and Beer. You might have visited Sesame at one of their other locations around town, but nothing beats the original. There is something for everyone on the menu, and the atmosphere is 100% kid-friendly. Bonus points if the train passes by while you’re eating.

Sesame, Park Circle
Sesame train! (Better than dessert. Almost.)

Girls Night: Lotus Vietnamese Cuisine. Gather the girls and settle in for an evening of delicious eats, beverages, and girl talk. (Bring your own girl talk.) Their outside seating area will put your outing over the top. (Two words: order pho.)

For the Boys: The Barbeque Joint. Next time you want the men in your life out of your hair to spend some quality time together, send them to The Barbeque Joint. It’s a no-frills place, but with food this good, who needs frills?

Date Night!: Fratello’s Italian Tavern. Kiss your little cherubs on their foreheads and promise the babysitter an extra $20 if they are asleep when you get home. Grab your significant other and get cozy at Fratello’s. This place is awesome.  My husband and I have celebrated a couple of anniversaries here, and even my mother-in-law raved about the food, and she hardly ever raves about anything. Trust me. Go.

Frazzle's Park Circle
Celebrating my mom’s retirement at Fratello’s. We brought the 6-week old baby. Because, pasta.

Coffee Break: The Orange Spot Coffeehouse. Did your sweet little angels keep you up all freaking night? Again? The folks at The Orange Spot can help you get through the day with flying colors. Grab a beverage and a snack and pat yourself on the back. Good job, mama!

Something Sweet: Park Circle Creamery. It’s ice cream. It’s hand-made. The flavors are insane. Go there.

Something Unexpected: The CODfather, Proper Fish and Chips. Full disclosure, I haven’t eaten at the CODfather yet, but I decided to include it because the buzz around this place is bonkers. It’s on my list of places to try, and it should be on yours, too!

Sunday Brunch: LoLA. When a friend’s taunting text of her shrimp po boy makes your mouth water…you know that’s good eats! LoLA is rolling out a Sunday Brunch menu starting July 17, and I plan to camp out to be the first one in the door. (Just kidding about the camping, because…ew. But I’m super pumped about brunch.)

I could keep going and going with all the great spots in Park Circle. If your favorite didn’t make my list, give it a shout out in the comments! I hope you’ll plan a visit soon and check out this little slice of culinary heaven. I’ll be the one eating salsiccie pane at Fratello’s like it’s my job. (I wish it were my job…)
