Meet Amber! Meet the contributors Amber & Aubrey

Profession: I have three part time jobs so that I can maintain working at my own (really my kid’s) schedule.
1. I build and refinish furniture along with interior decorating.
2. I am an assistant to an insurance agent.
3. I am an advisor with Advocare, to help myself and friends be healthy and financially stable.

What are your kid(s)’ names and ages? Lily is my beautiful princess ballerina, she is nine. Luke is five and he’s boisterous active and never meets a stranger.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What spare time? Just kidding…I do love to read and run around our neighborhood.

Are you a Charleston transplant or were you born and raised here? I am a transplant from Beaumont, TX. The land where Cajun and Mexican food are bountiful. We moved here about 2 years ago and we have learned to embrace Brunch.

What is the best trip you have ever taken? I think the best trip that we ever went on was a trip to San Diego, we were there for over a week and had time to do so many wonderful things like experience the zoo, surf at La Jolla and explore everywhere.

What is your most memorable concert experience? Don’t hate me, but I’m not a huge concert person. But I was able to attend a small venue Willie Nelson concert and that was completely amazing!!

What are your post-bedtime guilty pleasures? When everyone goes to bed I love to take a few minutes and read, nothing that is self help or learning, but just a book that I can get lost in for just a bit before I fall asleep.

If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? I would totally potato soup that my mom made me when I was younger, its my soul food.

What is your favorite thing to do in Charleston? We love to explore. Charleston is so full of history and fun and since we have only been here for couple of years so there is still so much for us to find.

What is the craziest piece of parenting advice you have ever received? When I was pregnant the first time, I would get so much advice, and I know that everyone thought that they were helping, but dang the advice was overwhelming. And everybody’s opinion was given as if it was actual fact. All of the “breast is best” blessings that were bestowed on me, so when I didn’t produce any milk, I thought I was being a horrible mom for using formula. And I did get the stank eye from one person because I we had my kids at the hospital instead of at home. The advice that I give out now is to take all the advice that people give and then use what works for you.

,Would you rather: Potty train? or Give the sex talk? Since I’ve already done it…potty training. I’m staring down the sex talk right now and it is terrifying.

What is your favorite post you’ve written for Charleston Moms Blog? I really liked the blog that I wrote about making your house a home.

Next up…Aubrey!Meet the contributors Amber & Aubrey

Profession: twirlsquad {aka traveling three ring circus} wrangler

What are your kid(s)’ names and ages? Molly Blake- 15 months, Eisley Jane- 15 months,
Merrick Rys- 1 month

What do you do for fun in your spare time? What is spare time again?!

Are you a Charleston transplant or were you born and raised here? Born and Raised in Atlanta, GA

What is the best trip you have ever taken? Maui, Hawaii–it was unbelievable. Counting the days til we get to go back..

What is your most memorable concert experience? Seeing Hootie & The Blowfish with my [now] hubs for what ended up being our first date…which, neither of us realized was a date until we became inseparable after that night. This isn’t my favorite concert by any means, but definitely the most memorable because it was the start of “us”.

What are your post-bedtime guilty pleasures? Popping open an ice cold brew or pouring a glass of wine while zoning out to Netflix shows with the hubs or Scandal — pretty much the only time I sit and watch tv. And the occasional trip to Target By. My. Self.

If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mac N Cheese

What is your favorite thing to do in Charleston? Anything by the water–sitting on the dock, boating, paddle boarding, walking along the shore…

What is the craziest piece of parenting advice you have ever received? Didn’t get much advice since we had twins first. I think people were afraid to give too much since they were overwhelmed for us. HA! And now that we have just one – everyone assumes it’s a cakewalk, and we are “pros” so again–not much advice wise!

Would you rather: Potty train? or Give the sex talk? How ’bout neither?! I mean, haven’t I done enough by birthing them… I’ll tag out and let dada tag in for both 😆

What is your favorite post you’ve written for Charleston Moms Blog? One that hasn’t been written yet. Not that I have a clue what that is or will be, but I’m sure it’s yet to have been written.
