 15th Annual Scrumptious Summerville Kitchen Tour

The Dorchester Children’s Center will host the 15th Annual Scrumptious Summerville Kitchen Tour on October 1, 2017. Homes and yards will be open for touring, with a chef/restaurant in every kitchen and most yards.

This family-friendly event will feature live German music, seasonal beer, food, dancing and activities!

Shrimp on the Barbie

What better way to celebrate National Seafood Month than with a shrimp festival on the beach! It will feature local shrimp, live music, kids activities, and a large beer selection.

Free Verse Poetry Festival

The Free Verse Festival is the City of Charleston, SC’s first poetry festival. The Free Verse Festival will consist of three parts; poetry as public art, workshops and events for students, and poetry at night.

Toddler Tails 2017: Fall Series

The City of Charleston’s Environmental Education Division is proud to announce the Fall Toddler
Tails session for 2017! This program is designed to introduce your toddler to many aspects of the

Art Walk

Located along Historic Broad Street, Gallery Row opens its doors for “First Fridays on Broad” and a variety of other events hosted by the 15 galleries, restaurants, shops, and boutiques on the Row.

Hike For Mike

The Hike for Mike is in honor of Michael Lonon, father, husband, friend and nature enthusiast who believed in instilling a love and appreciation for nature to his children.  The Hike promotes his passion for nature as well as raises awareness and funds for children, like his own, who have been affected by a parent or caregiver’s cancer.

Hippie Dash 5k

The second-annual Hippie Dash is a timed 5K that raises awareness and funding for people with disabilities. Don your best 70’s attire as you groove their way through a psychedelic 3.1 mile course around Park Circle. Runners, walkers, children and pups of all ages are encouraged to participate.

2nd Sunday on King Street

Wine Down Wednesday

Charleston, SC: Evening Bike Ride and Social

Join the East Coast Greenway Alliance and our partners Charleston Moves and East Cooper Land Trust for an evening group bike commute and social! One group will ride from Charleston to the West Ashley neighborhood for a social event at Mellow Mushroom. The east-bound group will ride to Patriots Point for a simultaneous social event at Fish House.

That BIG Book Sale 

Book lovers and bargain hunters are in for a real treat when the Charleston Friends of the Library host its 36th annual That BIG Book Sale. Over 60,000 books, DVDs, CDs, books on CDs, sheet music and maps will be on sale to the public with prices starting at just $.50.

Avondale 5K Run and Walk

Lace up your running shoes for the 8th Annual Avondale 5K Run + Walk for Special Kids. Avondale 5K runners and walkers will make their way through the lovely streets of the Avondale neighborhood in West Ashley. Strollers and dogs are welcome!

Lowcountry Trail Half Marathon and 5K

Runners will have a chance to embrace the breathtaking fall foliage, moss-draped oaks and native wildlife as they make their way through beautiful Johns Island trails. Races are offered for two distances: a half marathon and a 5K.

Children’s Day Festival

East Cooper schools will host carnival games centered on this year’s theme: Lights, Camera, Action! Families will enjoy carnival rides, enormous inflatable slides, live entertainment, wall climbing, face painting and many other activities!

Wednesday, October 18

Follypalooza Festival

Follypalooza is an annual cancer benefit & street festival on Folly Beach, SC that raises money for local cancer patients & other Folly Beach residents in need of medical help. Follypalooza is family-friendly with live music, a 5K, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, carnival games, jump castles, face painting, balloon animals, mechanical bull, Art in the Park, and craft vendors.

Third Thursdays in Summerville

On the third Thursday of each month, downtown Summerville becomes a prime spot for live entertainment, special offers from restaurants, shopping, and local music.

SCDNR Open House

Every two years, the doors of the Marine Resources Center in Charleston are open to the public for an Open House. Come meet our marine biologists, fisheries managers, and educators and learn about the work we do in a fun, relaxed setting. Open House is a free, family-friendly event with a lot of activities for kids (and grown-ups!).

Third Eye Blind at Volvo Car Stadium

Call a babysitter and head out to Volvo Car Stadium to see Third Eye Blind for a much needed date night or girls night out! Third Eye Blind is donating $2 of every ticket sale to the Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure.

Harry Potter Film Concert Series

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra will perform Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series. The concert will feature the live symphony orchestra performing, to picture, every note from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™.

The 19th Annual James Island Connector Run

Both the 10K run and the 5k run start at Cannon Park near the corner of Ashley Ave. & Bennett St. Proceeds from the Charleston James Island Connector Run benefit the Gavalas Kolanko Foundation (GKF), a local charity that awards annual scholarships to students with physical disabilities.
