Welcome to April! Spring is finally here and we have plenty of fun, family-friendly events going on around Charleston to check out. Saturday, April 1

40th Annual Cooper River Bridge Run

Don’t miss out on this classic Charleston 10K run that raises funds for public education. There is also a kids fun run and Wonderfest that takes place the day before the bridge run. Check out the website for a complete listing of all of the weekend’s events!

A Kickin’ BBQ Pickin’

Project Alive & Kicking, which helps empower expectant mothers by educating them about healthy pregnancies, possible signs of fetal distress, and action they can take, is hosting their second annual fundraiser. The event will feature authentic BBQ, live music, a silent auction, and local food and drinks.

Flowertown Festival

Now in it’s 45th year, the Flowertown Festival has become one of the Southeast’s largest arts and crafts festivals. With local art, area restaurants and vendors, and a Kids Fest, there is something for everyone in your family!

Lowcountry Cajun Festival

The Lowcountry Cajun Festival is a full day of Zydeco music, Cajun and Creole foods, kids activities, and much more! With foods ranging from seafood to Southern barbecue and festival food, there’s something for everyone!

Charleston Honey & Bee Expo

With honeybees in rapid decline, this expo aims to educate the public about the importance of bees. There will also be local honey to sample, a children’s corner, lessons on mead making, and food trucks which will be utilizing local honey for their food items.

The Treasured Stories of Eric Carle

Known for his wonderful children’s stories and illustrations, this hour-long production showcases puppetry and striking scenic effects from classic books.

Paw Patrol Live!

Everyone’s favorite pups are coming to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. With lessons about friendship, social skills, and problem solving, your kids will be learning life lessons while enjoying the high energy entertainment.

2nd Sunday on King Street

Shop, dine, and walk along King Street, which is closed off to traffic, on the 2nd Sunday of each month! Print this voucher to receive two hours of free parking!

Thursday, April 13

iFiveK

The iFiveK is a fun run and networking event for Charleston’s tech professionals. Proceeds support CODEcamp scholarships and other education related programming.

Hops and Vines

This new event, taking place at McLeod Plantation, will feature live music, beer, wine, and a food truck. There will also be interpreters present to illustrate the storied history of the plantation.

Easter at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Spend Easter on beautiful Kiawah Island by starting the day with an Easter egg hunt and toss, and tons of other activities throughout the day, including sandsculpting, pop-up crafts, and many others.

Third Thursdays in Summerville

On the third Thursday of each month, downtown Summerville becomes a prime spot for live entertainment, special offers from restaurants, shopping, and local music.

Charleston Outdoor Fest

This three-day festival features canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, rock climbing, and much more! There will also be live music, a try-it zone, an archery competition, and many other activities to keep the whole family busy!

Walk for Autism

Walk for Autism seeks to offset the costs of therapies while increasing public awareness about the diagnosis. There are many ways to get involved with this important event, including making a donation, sign your business as a sponsor, and participating in the walk on April 22nd.

Earth Day 5K

Celebrate Earth Day by taking a nice run or leisurely stroll at St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center on Seabrook Island. The race supports Environmental Education.

North Charleston Spring Plant Swap

Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival 

This 30th annual event pays tribute to Mt. Pleasant’s local shrimping and fishing industry and features live music, a boat parade, craft show, and lots of free activities.
