Animal Forest Tuesday at Charles Towne Landing 

Bring your toddlers to watch the animals and stay for a story and a walk out to the habitat. Recommended ages is 2-4.

Kid Tours: Metamorphisis

Head to The Charleston Museum and explore the lifecycle of a butterfly by creating your own lifecycle card and a butterfly

Summer of Bills Film Series: Broken Flowers 

Between May 31st and August 20th, the Charleston Music Hall will be presenting seven Bill Murray films. This one will be Broken Flowers, starring Julie Delphy and of course, Bill Murray. Schedule a babysitter and head out for a much needed mid-week date night or night out with friends!

James Island County Park’s Reggae Concert Series 

Bring your picnic blankets or chairs and enjoy music from Mystic Vibrations. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Concerts will take place rain or shine!

Say Yes to the Dress

The Charleston County Parks & Rec Department and the City of Charleston Therapeutic Recreation Division are hosting a prom-themed celebration for people with special needs on 8/18, but before that, they are inviting attendees to an evening out to pick complimentary evening wear for the event.

First Day Festival

Every August, Charleston holds a festival where students and their families receive school supplies, learn about student support services and healthy snacks, and enjoy festival entertainment.

Saved By The Bell Trivia & School Supply Drive

If the names Zach Morris, A.C. Slater, and Jessie Spano ring a bell for you, then you should definitely come to Bay Street Biergarten with a backpack full of unopened school supplies that will be donated. Cirque du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil will be performing with OVO, a cast of 50 performing artists specializing in many acrobatic acts, including the stunning Flying Act.

Berkeley Goes back to school Festival

Join Berkeley County School District as they host their first back to school festival. There will be FREE book bags and school supplies for BCSD students.

2nd Sunday on King Street

Special Needs Prom

The Charleston County Parks & Rec Dept. and the City of Charleston Therapeutic Recreation Division invites people with special needs to a prom-themed celebration. Snacks and refreshments will be provided and a DJ will provide entertainment.

Dramatic Reading of Total Eclipse

In preparation of this rare event taking place on 8/21, actress Maggie Worsdale will do a dramatic reading of this essay at Hurd/St. Andrews Public Library.

Family Fun Event: The Great American Eclipse

The theme for this month’s family fun program will be focused on the Solar Eclipse. There will be hands-on activities using a scale model of the Earth, Moon, and Sun.

Monday, August 21

Celebrate the Solar Eclipse at the Children’s Museum

In celebration of this historic event, the Children’s Museum will have programming demonstrating how eclipses occur and exploring the phases of the moon. Special glasses will be provided for the eclipse.

Monday, August 21

Citadel Mall’s Free Eclipse Extravaganza

Citadel Mall is hosting a free “Official NASA Viewing Location” Eclipse Extravaganza in the parking area adjacent to Planet Fitness. Free eclipse glasses will be given to the first 500 people and there will be kid’s activities, entertainment, and more.

Get Eclipsed on IOP

In honor of the big event, the City of Isle of Palms will be hosting an eclipse viewing event on Front Beach. There will be live music and children’s entertainment. A limited supply of eclipse viewing glasses will be available.

Monday, August 21

Solar Eclipse Festival

The Solar Eclipse Festival will be the inaugural event for Yonder Field in Bowman, SC. The festival will feature The Great Inflatable Race, music featuring Uncle Kracker, Edwin McCain and Corey Smith, a move, and food and beverages.

Monday, August 21

Eclipse on a Warship

Watch as the USS Yorktown is transformed into the “Shady Lady” during the solar eclipse. The first 3,000 attendees will receive special viewing glasses and an indirect viewing method will also be offered on the flight deck.

18th Annual Thrivent Financial Race for the Ark

This 5k run/walk and 1 mile fun run raises funds for The Ark to provide comprehensive services to families living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia.
