Friday, June 16

The Charleston RiverDogs host the Columbia Fireflies on Friday during Instagrammy Night at the Joe. The team will award fans with the best pictures using #DownAtTheJoe. Friday is also Red Shirt Friday, when the players wear special red jerseys to support the military. Be sure to stick around for a fireworks show after the game. The gates open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7:05 p.m. at Joe Riley Stadium, 360 Fishburne St., Charleston. Tickets are $8-$21. The Movies in the Park hosted by the Town of Summerville

Watch a free, outdoor showing of “Finding Dory” Friday evening at Gahagan Park in Summerville (weather-permitting). There will be food vendors and live music starting at 6:30 p.m., and the movie (rated PG) will start at dusk, around 8:15 p.m. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Glass bottles, tents, and pets are not permitted at the event. The park is located at 515 W. Boundary St., Summerville.

Weekend Fun: Events June 16-18

The Mount Pleasant Pier is hosting the next Cast Off Fishing Tournament from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will offer prizes for the three largest catches in the Big Fish category. The pier is located at 71 Harry Hallman Blvd., Mount Pleasant. Registration is $5-$10. An adult chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and younger.

Be an archaeologist for the day during the “Dig It!” program, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Aiken-Rhett House Museum. Participants can talk with professional and student archaeologists who will be working on a dig in the back lot, and then do some digging of their own to find buried artifacts. The cost is $10 per child, and the program is recommended for ages 7-12. The museum is located at 48 Elizabeth St., downtown Charleston.

Charleston Zip Line Adventures celebrates its one-year anniversary on Saturday with a special Father’s Day event from 2-5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy live bluegrass music, cornhole, and a climbing wall…chairs and coolers are welcome. There is no cost for admission, half off for Dad with the purchase of one full price zip line canopy reservation. Reservations for Father’s Day special must be made in advance.  It is located at 1152 Guerins Bridge Road, Awendaw.

Celebrate “Saturday Live at The Joe” with NASH FM as the RiverDogs take on the Columbia Fireflies on Saturday evening. The evening starts with player autographs on the concourse. The team will also celebrate Larry Doby, the first black player in the American League. After the game, there will be t-shirt tosses, home run derbies and more! Gates open at 5 p.m. and the game starts at 6:05 p.m. at Joe Riley Stadium, 360 Fishburne St., Charleston. Tickets are $8-$21.

Sunday, June 18

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will offer free admission to dads for Father’s Day. Features of the Mount Pleasant attraction include the recently opened Battle of Midway exhibit, three warships (including the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier), and the 2.5-acre Vietnam Experience. Located at 40 Patriots Point Road in Mount Pleasant, the museum is open 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Dads get free admission to the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry on Sunday in honor of Father’s Day. Located at 25 Ann St.in downtown Charleston, the attraction is open from 12-5 p.m. Children younger than 1 and museum members get in free…regular admission is $10-$12 per person.

Dads and their families are invited to a free Father’s Day fishing seminar on Sunday. Hosted by a local fishing guide, the seminar will run from 1-2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Pier, 71 Harry Hallman Blvd. Call 843-762-994 for more information.

Weekend Fun: Events June 16-18

The Charleston RiverDogs host the Columbia Fireflies on a Family Sunday game with free parking, free admission, and free food for kids 12 and under. To celebrate Father’s Day, dads will be eligible to win raffle prizes and take a break in the “designated dad zone,” where the RiverDogs will offer massages and other dad comforts during the game. Gates open at noon; the game starts at 1:05 p.m. at Joe Riley Stadium, 360 Fishburne St., downtown Charleston. Tickets are $8-$21 (kids 12 and under are free). Kids also have the chance to play pregame catch, and run the bases after the game.
