Dear Joey; An Inspirational Book All Moms Need to Read

A dear friend of mine recently wrote and published her first book, and I’d like to let you in on a little secret: IT’S AMAZING!

I have known Alicia for many years and I admire her for the dedication, the heart, and the soul she put into making this dream of hers come true. Alicia is a mother of five young children, all of which she homeschools. She has a heart for Jesus and desires to share His love with those around her. Her love for Him is contagious and it spills out onto the pages of this book. Her inspirational book is dripping with encouragement for mothers everywhere.

She identifies a struggle that mom’s typically tend to face; that is, the struggle to fully embrace motherhood.

Alicia’s book, Dear Joey, was inspired by a blog post she wrote about the country singer Joey Feek, and how she lived her life. The blog post itself is an inspiration and can be found here

I am not much of a reader, and I finished this book in less than 48 hours! I just love the way that I was made to feel completely “normal” as a mother, even on the craziest of days. I was encouraged and challenged as I read through each chapter.

As mothers, we need to feel supported by one another, whether we know each other or not. It continues to amaze me how connected or uplifted I can feel just by simply reading the blog post of another mom who is going through similar things as me.

There is no doubt that I love my children to pieces! However, there are days…so many days…that I wonder, “What on earth am I doing wrong? Why won’t they listen to me? Why do I feel so inadequate? Where is the JOY that motherhood is supposed to bring me?”

What I gained from reading this book

  • I am not alone on this motherhood journey, and NEITHER are you!
  • I can do ANYTHING that I set my mind to. This one is a little harder for me to accept at times, but if a homeschooling mom of five young children can achieve her dream of writing and publishing a book, then I can absolutely achieve mine.
  • Jesus is and always will be my strength.

Wherever you are on your motherhood journey, I promise you, this book will prove to be a HUGE encouragement.
