0

Looking for a fun, family-friendly road trip from the Charleston area? Head north on Highway 17 to Myrtle Beach! This area is of course known for its 100+ golf courses; however, there’s more!

If you like beaches, boardwalks, arcades, restaurants, and fun, then look no further…Did you know that Myrtle Beach is the hub of the Grand Strand with 60 miles of beaches? What are you waiting for? Go get those toes in the sand and the saltwater in your hair!

Exploring Myrtle Beach

THE BEACH: There is some beach parking that is free of charge with most areas having paid meters or parking stations. If you are in Myrtle Beach proper there are numerous public beach access spots. This is a great resource for information on the various beaches and how to access them

SKY WHEEL: For adventure-seekers, the boardwalk and promenade are home to the Myrtle Beach Sky Wheel, which offers riders a panoramic view of the Grand Strand and beach.

AMUSEMENT PARK: If your family likes skeeball and other arcade games, then be sure to stop by the Plaza Family Fun Center. This is within the Family Kingdom Amusement Park located at 300 S Ocean Blvd. They have 37 rides for adults and children!

THRILL RIDE: Sling Shot anyone? Located at 1201 N Ocean Blvd. is the Sling Shot Thrill ride. This is not for the faint of heart! This ride will flip, spin, twist, and leave you with butterflies in your belly from being flung in the air at speeds of up to 100mph!

RIPLEY’S: Don’t forget all the fun-filled Ripley’s adventures. There are five attractions in town which include Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium, 5-D Moving Theater, Haunted Adventure, Marvelous Mirror Maze, and the Ripley’s Aquarium. Check out more information here.

ZIP LINING: Zipline Adventures can be found at 321 9th Ave. North.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE: One of my personal favorite spots is Broadway at the Beach. It has something for all ages. There are numerous shops, restaurants, amusements, entertainment, and nightlife! Two of our family’s favorite activities here are Ripley’s Aquarium and WonderWorks.  Almost all the restaurants are kid-friendly, so you will be able to grab a bite without worrying if the kids are loud.

WATER PARK: If you are looking for some water fun try out Myrtle Waves Water Park. This water park is one of the largest in South Carolina with over 30 slides! Again, this is an all-ages hot spot! The little ones will enjoy Bubble Bay while the adults have rides like Thunderbolt Speed Slides and Turbo Twisters.

As you can see there are many attractions to keep you and your family entertained. These are only some of my favorite highlights. If you’re looking to stay in Myrtle Beach, there are many options.  You can always look on hotel booking sites or here to book anything from a hotel room to a resort or an RV campground.

So, pack the sunscreen and head on up to Myrtle Beach for some fun!

Do you have a favorite spot in the Myrtle Beach area? I would love to hear from you.
