March 2nd-6th: Charleston Wine and Food Festival offers a variety of flavors and experiences unique to Charleston and the Lowcountry. Join us to interact and dine with a broad culinary community of local and guest chefs, winemakers, cocktail and beer experts and much more. Taste why Charleston is one of the top food and wine destinations in America! All attendees must be at least 21 years old. No exceptions will be made. Children and pets will not be permitted. March 4th: Disney Fantasia Live in Concert is coming to Charleston at the Gaillard Center. Experience a selection of the magnificent repertoire from both films including Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite. Other iconic moments from Disney’s stunning footage, such as Mickey Mouse as he dabbles in magic in Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and the mythical unicorns and winged horses that accompany Beethoven’s ‘Pastoral’ Symphony, will also be shown in high definition on the big screen with music performed live by The Czech National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ted Sperling. March 4th-6th: Oyster Roast Trail Ride Weekend at the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center. Register online and enjoy a beautiful weekend at Mullet Hall Equestrian Center. Registration includes trail riding, camping, and dinner on Saturday night. More details on Charleston County Parks’ website.

March 5th: Stay active and support your local parks by participating in: Where the Wild Things Run 5K Walkers, joggers, and runners of all ages come explore your wild side on the scenic nature trails at Caw Caw Interpretive Center. Caw Caw is actively managed for a variety of wildlife and a favored habitat for rare wildlife, so there is also the chance you may see a “wild thing” or two! An award ceremony with local food and beverages will be held immediately afterward.
March 6th: Come enjoy all the play with none of the pay during Customer Appreciation Day at your Charleston County Parks! On Sunday, March 6, Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission says “thank you” with no admission fees all day and bonus activities.
March 6 could also be your lucky day! While in the parks, visitors can register for a chance to win a Gold Pass Membership. Accept our invitation for a fun-filled day of adventure. Whisk the family away to palmetto-lined vistas, savor a picnic lunch along tidal creeks, or stroll leisurely on self-guided nature trails.
March 6th: Join the Charleston Parks Conservancy at our 7th annual Teddy Bear Picnic from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 6th! We invite all families to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon in one of Charleston’s best parks!
This family-friendly, FREE event has activities for all ages, including face painting, seed planting, cookie decorating, crafts and hula hooping. A Teddy Care Station will be available for “injured” bears needing treatment, along with well bear checkups, so make sure to bring your bears! John Cusatis will provide musical entertainment, and the afternoon will wrap up with a teddy bear parade around the Gazebo. This is a great community event you don’t want to miss!

March 11th-12th: Set under magnificent moss-draped oaks, the fourth annual Charleston Tells Storytelling Festival under the moss draped oaks of Wagg Square in historic downtown Charleston. Storytellers will captivate the audience as they offer stories that touch our souls, make us laugh, bring us to tears and fill us with wonder. Special events are also planned for families as a way to introduce children to this ancient and revered art form.

March 12th: The Charleston Walk for Water is an exciting event that continues to grow year after year. On the morning of March 12th, 2015, we will stop running. In fact, that’s our only rule for the day: No Running! As we unlace our running shoes and slip into something more suitable for walking, we’re going to focus our attention on the details – on people. In 2015 they broke all existing records with the highest number of walkers and dollars raised. This year we want to do it all again. Funds raised are used where they are most needed to provide safe water and sanitation around the world. Mark your calendars for the morning of March 12th, 2016, and come join thousands of others who are passionate about being the element of change.
March 12th: Come join the biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the Lowcountry on Saturday, March 12th in the Olde Village of North Charleston (located on East Montague Avenue near Park Circle). The 13th Annual “St. Paddy’s Day Block Party & Parade” is from 12 PM – 6 PM and promises fun for the entire family. The celebration will feature live music across three stages, street vending and fare from Olde North Charleston restaurants, additional local food vendors & trucks, the North Charleston Artist Guild, a Kid’s Zone with jump castles and inflatable obstacle course, a fire truck, face painting, as well as the always favorite mechanical bull.
March 12th: The 5th annual Rugged Maniac is returning to Boone Hall Plantation on March 12th with 25 epic obstacles and one rockin’ party! Here’s how it works: Register for the race and you’ll get a chance to run our 3-mile course where you’ll climb towers of shipping containers, rocket down a massive water slide, crawl through underground tunnels, and experience some BIG new obstacles (trampolines?!)! As if that weren’t awesome enough, before and after you run you’ll get to party with thousands of other maniacs in our day-long festival where you can ride mechanical bulls, pretend to be a kid in our adult bounce houses, dance your butt off in the festival and enjoy lots of new games and activities!
March 12th: Art Fest Community Celebration at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. This annual festival at the Mount Pleasant Towne Centre brings families and cultural enthusiasts together with budding and professional artists for an event that showcases a diverse array of local and regional artistic talent. The Mount Pleasant Artists Guild presents a juried art show. All activities and performances are free of charge. The event attracts residents and visitors of all ages, from young parents and children through seniors.

March 12th: Bushels & Bids is a Charles Towne Montessori Oyster Roast and Auction. It is the major fundraiser of the school. There are fresh roasted oysters, hot food bar, beer, wine, live and silent auctions, and live music by Chris Boone.
March 15th-19th: Are you a mom who loves setting trends, learning about the newest fashions or one who just enjoys a good fashion show? Then you should definitely attend Charleston’s Fashion Week, maybe even make it a girls’ night out! Held under the tents in Marion Square in Charleston, SC, this five-night celebration features more than 40 runway shows. Accredited with launching the careers of numerous up-and-coming fashion designers and models, this true multimedia event presents high-end runway shows, interactive entertainment, chic after-parties, and press events. It’s a must see!
March 16th: Fly to Neverland with us! CCS is pleased to announce that we will present Disney’s Peter Pan, Jr. on Wednesday, March 16 at 7:00 at the College of Charleston Sottile Theatre (44 George Street, Charleston, SC 29401). Based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie’s enchanting play, Disney’s Peter Pan Jr. is an updated version of the timeless tale about a boy who wouldn’t grow up.

March 16th-24th: Be a tourist in your own town, because let’s face it, there is always something beautiful to see and learn about Charleston! The Festival of Houses and Gardens is a series of award-winning tours and educational events showcase Charleston’s distinctive architecture, history, gardens, and culture. The tours provide a rare opportunity for guests to go inside the private houses and gardens of some of America’s most beautiful historic residences.
March 17th: Celebrate the “luck of the Irish” at the 18th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in the heart of Charleston. It’s sure to be a great time for all ages!
March 17th: Want to dress in style but can’t bring yourself to pay the high prices of department stores and boutiques? Come check out Charleston’s Style Exchange Upscale Women’s Consignment Sale! This season will feature new and very gently used upscale Spring and Summer items of current trend such as women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories (handbags, purses, belts, scarves, etc), shoes. March 19th: Come experience the last Oysters on the Point at Patriots Point. Have a family day eating buckets of oysters and listening to live music, all while enjoying the beautiful surroundingsMarch 19th-20th: Our pets love us unconditionally – so why not give back to your best friends by bringing them out to experience a day of fun, frolic, and exploration? Pets and their owners are invited to join Charleston County Parks for a full weekend of exhibits, demonstrations, experts, entertainment, and more at Charleston’s premiere pet festival! Pet Fest provides an opportunity for local pet-related organizations and businesses to showcase their causes, products and services in a fun, animal-friendly environment. Leashed pets are welcome with their owners! Or, come to the festival in search of your new best friend from area rescue groups, who will have adoptable animals on site.
March 19th-20th: Come support Musical Theater Center, a local non-profit organization that trains kids and teens in singing, acting, and dancing, and produces full scale musicals. Please join MTC’s Junior Company’s for a performance of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. on March 19th and 20th at Footlight Players Theater in downtown Charleston. March 23rd: If you haven’t had the chance to witness the amazing production of The Phantom of Opera, now is your chance! It is coming to the North Charleston Theater starting March 23rd; don’t miss out on this opportunity to see one of the longest running opera performances.
March 26th: The Insane Inflatable 5K is coming to your neck of the woods! Get ready to experience the most fun, wild and insane obstacle run in the world. March 26th: Bring the whole family to have a hopping good time at the Easter Egg Hunt. It will take place at 10am SHARP at the Isle of Palms Recreation Department, #24 28th Ave, Isle Of Palms SC. In the event of rain, the Easter Festivities will be move into the gym where the children will be given candy and have the opportunity to have their photo with the Easter Bunny.
March 26th: Come join us from 2-4pm for the best egg hunt in West Ashley at Bees Landing, but don’t forget to bring your basket! There will be over 8,000 eggs for kids 12 and under to hunt, along with jump castles, crafts, face painting, pictures and more!
March 28th-April 3rd: Visiting from Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida, these dazzling divas will delight youngsters and the young at heart. Four live mermaids will swim among hundreds of animals in the Great Ocean tank, fascinating guests with a choreographed routine to musical numbers. The shows will take place at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm daily and are included with admission to the Aquarium.
The fin-tastic activities don’t end there. Mermaids will also be available for photo opportunities to get a unique souvenir by which to remember your Aquarium visit. Enjoy mermaid-themed activities and interactive education stations focused on conservation efforts to sustain the beauty of the ocean.
March 31st: Easter Egg Hunt at the Family Circle Cup This year, the community’s popular Easter Egg Hunt is taking place on Sunday, March 31 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island as part of the Family Weekend festivities at the Family Circle Cup. The action starts at noon on the Grand Lawn. Thousands of eggs will be hidden, and separate hunts will be offered for ages 0-3, 4–7, and 8–10. There will also be a special visit from the Easter Bunny! Families are encouraged to show up early so as not to miss out – the Egg Hunt will be over in a Flash!
