Welcome to March! The weather is warming up and we have plenty of fun, family-friendly events going on around Charleston to check out. Charleston Wine + Food Festival

Hope you’re hungry because the Wine + Food Festival will be chock full of local culinary excellence. There will also be additional festival events going on around the area, including dinners, workshops, and parties.

Front Beach Fest

The City of Isle of Palms will be having a free festival with fun, family-friendly activities, including live beach music, jump castles for the kids, face painting, and local arts and crafts vendors and restaurants.

Saturday, March 4 

Read Rattle & Roll

Designed for children ages 1 month – 5 1/2 years old, parents will help identify areas of learning where extra support may be needed through interactive play areas. Screenings will take about thirty minutes and there will be a supervised area for siblings. This event is sponsored by the Trident United Way Community Engagement Grant.

Dr. Seuss Day at Brookgreen Garden

In honor of Read Across America/Dr. Seuss Day, the Lowcountry Courtyard will be filled with make and take crafts and exciting games. You will also be able to plant with the Lorax, make a hat with the Cat, and meet other characters at the live animal presentation. The activities at this event are geared towards children ages 4-12.

Charleston Mom Prom

Ladies, this one’s just for you! Grab your girlfriends and head to this fun event benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mardi Gras attire is encouraged!

Time: 7 pm – 11 pm
Cost: Standard rate in February is $45, Tickets at the door are $50. Ticket price includes light hors d’oeuvres, non-alcoholic beverages (cash bar available), swag bag of goodies, and the chance to be crowned Mom Prom 2017!

Teddy Bear Picnic

This eighth annual event will feature Parker Bear, star of the new book published by the Conservancy. There will be kid-friendly musical entertainment, puppets, and hip-hop dancing. There will also be other fun stuff for the kids like face painting, seed planting, and cookie decorating.

Charleston County Parks Customer Appreciation Day

No admission fees and bonus activities is Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission’s way of saying “thank you” to it’s customers. Come out and enjoy a day of exploring the parks with the whole family!

Animal Forest Tuesday at Charles Towne Landing 

Bring your toddlers to watch the animals and stay for a story and a walk out to the habitat. Recommended ages is 2-4.

Wednesday, March 8

Toddler Day: Luck of the Irish 

During this class (designed for ages 18 months – 3 years) children will get to make a rainbow and discover a pot of gold while celebrating St. Patrick.

Charleston Repeats Spring 2017 Presale Bash

If you are a registered first-time mom/grandmom, consigner, or volunteer, you are invited to attend the pre-sale bash for the Spring 2017 sale. Attendees will have first dibs on all the baby and kids items at one of the area’s largest consignment events!

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party & Parade

Join the Lowcountry’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in the Olde Village of North Charleston. This 14th annual event will feature live music, street vending from local restaurants, a Kids Zone, and much more!

St. Paddy’s Pawlooza

Bring your pup to Wannamaker Park and enjoy live music, craft beer, and food trucks. St. Patrick’s Day attire is encouraged, especially for your four-legged friends!

Summerville Family YMCA Shamrock Shuffle

By participating in this hometown favorite event, you are not only getting your exercise, but also raising funds to support health and wellness programs at the Y. The race features a 5K, 10K, and a one-mile Fun Run.

Catch the Leprechaun 5K

This scenic race offers spectacular views of the Cooper River Bridge, USS Yorktown, and Charleston Harbor. Stick around for the post-race festivities, including live music and a pot of gold for the winners and prizes for everyone who finishes before the leprechaun.

Third Thursdays in Summerville

On the third Thursday of each month, downtown Summerville becomes a prime spot for live entertainment, special offers from restaurants, shopping, and local music.

Saturday, March 18

Rugged Maniac Obstacle Course

More than just your average mud run, this event’s got a whole lot in store! From a mechanical bull and beach volleyball, to trampolines and water slides, you’re definitely going to need your energy for this one. Stick around after the course for a pie-eating contest, live music, and much more!

2017 Charleston Walk for Water

On this day, Charleston will gather together to walk for to give hope to those who lack access to safe water. Water Mission’s Walk for Water is a 3.5 mile walk around Charleston.

29th Annual Kids Fair

Now in it’s 45th year, the Flowertown Festival has become one of the Southeast’s largest arts and crafts festivals. With local art, area restaurants and vendors, and a Kids Fest, there is something for everyone in your family!
