Meet Sydney!

Profession: Accounts Payable Specialist

What are your kid(s)’ names and ages? Audrey-2.5 years oldMeet Our Contributors Sydney

What do you do for fun in your spare time? I don’t get to do it enough, but traveling. I love exploring new places and cultures.

Are you a Charleston transplant or were you born and raised here? I’m a Charleston transplant, but grew up here.

What is the best trip you have ever taken? This is a toss up between the trip to Germany and Russia I took in college, my study abroad experience, OR the trip my husband and daughter recently took to London.

What is your most memorable concert experience? Seeing Chaka Khan in Nashville, TN with my dad, brother, and husband!

What are your post-bedtime guilty pleasures? Facebook…and there is never anything going on. Haha

If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Since I don’t have a favourite food, I’ll go with a food I never want to eat again-CILANTRO!!

What is your favorite thing to do in Charleston? Either exploring the hidden streets downtown, or second Sunday on King Street

What is the craziest piece of parenting advice you have ever received? I actually have no idea! I don’t really have room to keep the crazy in my brain.

Would you rather: Potty train? or Give the sex talk? Sex talk hands down! That’s why I have Audrey in daycare-they are the experts.

What is your favorite post you’ve written for Charleston Moms Blog? Probably my top 5 favourite moments. I just recently read that again and it brought tears to my eyes. It helps me get through the monster moments.

Next up…Ashley!

Meet our contributors- Ashley AProfession:  I am a marketing professional turned stay-at-home mami to our first born child.

What are your kid(s)’ names and ages? We have one daughter who is our miracle baby. Little miss Aria was born on June 23rd, so she’s just over one month.

What do you do for fun in your spare time? Aside from Netflix binges and playing board games & Mario Kart 8 with my husband, I volunteer with Doors to Freedom, a non-profit dedicated to providing a safe home for survivors of sex trafficking and my church. I love designing different pieces and simply helping a cause bigger than myself.

Are you a Charleston transplant or were you born and raised here? I was born and raised in a small town in Florida (think one stop light and one locally-family-owned grocery store). I moved to the Lowcountry in October 2011 and it’s one of my top five best decisions.

What is the best trip you have ever taken? The absolute best trip I ever took was to Bolivia, South America. Half of my husband’s family is still in Bolivia, so I was able to meet them and do some amazing sightseeing and also have a near-death experience of traveling down Death Road. If you haven’t ever heard of Death Road, then you MUST YouTube a video of it. It’s a mountain bike excursion down a very narrow road on the side of a steep mountain. Now that I have a daughter to take care of, I’m not so sure that I would be able to do it again. Or maybe. . .

What is your most memorable concert experience?  I’m such a boy band lover. My favorite concert was the NKOTBSB show I saw a few years ago. I also got to see Enrique Iglesias and he just made me swoon like a middle school girl whose crush just smiled at her.

What are your post-bedtime guilty pleasures? I’m not proud of this one, but I love some Oreos and terrible reality television – in particular Teen Mom. Don’t judge me, my husband already does that!

If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? This is probably the hardest question because I love food. If I could only have one food for the rest of my life, it would have to be pasta – any kind of pasta is heavenly.

What is your favorite thing to do in Charleston? I love just walking around Charleston. Whether it’s one of our gorgeous beaches, through Wannamaker County Park, or through downtown Charleston. We live in such a beautiful place that it’s hard to ignore the beauty.

What is the craziest piece of parenting advice you have ever received? This is a tough one. I’ve received some really crazy advice about how long I should hold the baby to prevent her from being spoiled, and how breastfeeding is best and oh-so-natural. . .and if I don’t do it, then my child will be messed up forever

Would you rather: Potty train? or Give the sex talk? Potty train! I’m dreading giving the sex talk, but luckily we have quite a few years to Google talking/teaching points for both.

What is your favorite post you’ve written for Charleston Moms Blog? My favorite post so far has been Planning for a Multicultural Baby.
