Welcome to July! The weather is beautiful and there are plenty of fun, family-friendly events going on around Charleston to check out.

Beach Blanket Big Band

The Charleston Performing Arts Center is excited to present, “Beach Blanket Big Band”, running June 15-July 15th!

Let’s go to the Hop with Sue, Jasper, Linda, Charles, and Patricia! Together, this group of high school friends perform a summer show, “Beach Blanket Big Band”, to help their friend Danny receive his diploma! These teens will rock & roll, bop and stroll through the 50’s to all your favorite tunes! You’ll fall in love with this kitchy 50’s-inspired sitcom musical. Fun for the entire family!

Stars & Guitars

What happens when Nashville artists bring their best to majestic Boone Hall Plantation? We call it 103.5 WEZL’s Stars & Guitars Presented by Budweiser! We’ll have ice cold beer from Budweiser, plus world class barbeque from the Sticky Fingers crew. It’s the key ingredients for an All-American Sunday Funday: an ice cold Bud(s), a classic barbeque sandwich from Sticky Fingers, Nashville superstars you hear on 103.5 WEZL, and Boone Hall Plantation! Edwin McCain at the Windjammer

After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights.

Come join the fun on the High Challenge Course! Experience the excitement of walking across two to four of our team challenges suspended by cables and exiting down our tandem zipline. Ages 10 & up.

Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series Race #3

The five-race Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series at James Island County Park features a 600-yard freshwater swim, 12-mile bike ride, and 5K flat run. Over 30,000 people have raced the series over the years, and the series has been honored as one of the Top Ten Charleston Signature Sport Events by the Charleston Metro Sports Council. 2018 Race Dates: May 20,June 17, July 8, July 29,and August 12

Can’t Stop the Brunching

We Can’t Stop The Brunching! In the epic fashion that only Bay Street Biergarten can bring, we invite you to Justin Timberlake Brunch. Parent/Child Challenge Course

Enjoy an afternoon with your son or daughter on James Island County Park’s High Course! Face obstacles together, walk across a suspended cable at heights, help each other over obstacles, and enjoy racing down our 200 ft. zip line. Ages 12 & up. Minimum enrollment required Monday prior to program. Preregistration is highly recommended and will be available up until midnight Thursday prior to the program. On the day of the program, admission can be purchased on-site at day-of rate for $30, space permitting.

Charleston Classic

The Charleston Summer Classics were the first horse shows produced by the Classic Company and laid the framework for the shows that would capture the attention of the equestrian community. Located at Mullet Hall Equestrian Center at Johns Island County Park and just a few short miles from the resort islands Seabrook and Kiawah, the Charleston Summer Classics embrace the good life!

Wednesday, July 11

Toddler Day at The Charleston Museum

Toddler Day programs are designed for toddlers (18 months – 3 years) and a parent, grandparent, or friend to play and explore in The Charleston Museum. With a focus on developing fine motor skills, each program includes four craft projects as well as finger paints, a puppet stage, a sandbox, and more. All classes are on Wednesdays from 10 – 11 a.m.

On the third Thursday of each month, downtown Summerville becomes a prime spot for live entertainment, special offers from restaurants, shopping, and local music.

Youth Triathlon

Presented in conjunction with Palmetto TRIbe, our first youth triathlon race will be a multi-sport experience like no other in the area – the first to offer an open-water swim. This is an excellent opportunity for youth to experience a lake swim in a safe, well-monitored course. After the swim, participants will traverse the shaded paths and roads inside the park on the run and bike course.

Special Needs Swim Night

People with special needs, their caregivers, and families are invited to an unforgettable evening at the waterpark. Enjoy the lazy river, race down the slide, and take a leisurely dip in the pool, because the waterpark is open exclusively for you!

Animal Forest Toddler Tuesday at Charles Towne Landing

Zoos are great learning environments for young minds. Bring your toddler to the Animal Forest at Charles Towne Landing for “Toddler Time” and watch their eyes light up when they see the animals! We’ll read a story, talk about animals, and then take a walk to a habitat to actually see what we talked about. This program is designed for ages 2-4. Please allow at least 15 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the Animal Forest outdoor classroom.
