Where the Wild Things Run 5k

Get your running shoes ready – it’s time to get wild! The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) hosts its annual Where the Wild Things Run, a 5K run and walk on Saturday, March 3 at Caw Caw Interpretive Center in Ravenel.

Front Beach Fest

The City of Isle of Palms will be having a free festival with fun, family-friendly activities, including live beach music, jump castles for the kids, face painting, and local arts and crafts vendors and restaurants.

Saturday, March 3

Dr. Seuss Day at Brookgreen Garden

Brookgreen Gardens will host “A Seussical Day to Read and Play” on Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Wall Lowcountry Center.  The event is in celebration of Read Across America Day, the annual nationwide event that takes place on March 2 – Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Families are invited to come together to enjoy a read aloud of books that convey the appreciation of art, nature, and conservation as experienced at Brookgreen Gardens.  Themed make-and-take crafts and activities will be available. Children and adults are encouraged to dress like their favorite book characters.  Activities will close with a celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

Charleston Mom Prom

Charleston Mom Prom is a ladies night out to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 2018 will be our 5th year for this one of a kind event, and we are rolling out the red carpet! Grab your girlfriends, dust off that old bridesmaid dress, hit up the thrift store, or find something beautiful or bold and join us for ‘A Night at the Oscars’. We’ll dance the night away while raising vital funds to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

Disney Live! Mickey & Minnie’s Doorway to Magic

Teddy Bear Picnic

Join the Charleston Parks Conservancy in Hampton Park for the annual Teddy Bear Picnic with musical entertainment, a teddy bear fashion show and a host of activities, including face painting, seed planting, cookie decorating, crafts and games. The afternoon wraps up with a teddy bear parade.

Charleston County Parks Customer Appreciation Day

No admission fees and bonus activities is Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission’s way of saying “thank you” to it’s customers. Come out and enjoy a day of exploring the parks with the whole family!

Toddler Tuesday at Charles Towne Landing 

Bring your toddlers to watch the animals and stay for a story and a walk out to the habitat. Recommended ages is 2-4.

Wednesday, March 7

Kids Tours: Toys Through Time

Discover toys of the past with a tour of our latest Kidstory exhibit featuring toys and games from our collection. Kid Tours is a series designed to highlight artifacts from our collection that have fascinated children for years. Kid Tours meet the first Wednesday of every month at 3:30 p.m. and include a craft project or activity.

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party & Parade

Join the Lowcountry’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in the Olde Village of North Charleston. This 14th annual event will feature live music, street vending from local restaurants, a Kids Zone, and much more!

Saturday, March 10

Dancing with the ARK’s Stars

The eighth annual Dancing with The ARK’s Stars pairs local celebrities with professional dancers in a competition that has become a widely attended annual event. Proceeds from this premier fundraiser support the many programs of The ARK as it provides essential services for families dealing with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

Cost: Tickets are $60 in advance and $65 at the door. The evening includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, open bar, and a silent auction.

Mount Pleasant Arts Festival

Artists of all kinds gather for this event at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. Local dance and music groups perform and the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild presents a juried art show. Free arts activities for children.

The 5k Foam Fest

The 5K Foam Fest is a one of kind Obstacle Course based Fun run. With a variety of obstacles and a ton of foam, the run is an exciting challenge for experienced and beginner runners alike. The 5K Foam Fest is not a hardcore run it is a FUNCORE run. Walk it, Charge it, Run it, Fun it! A festival atmosphere offering activities for all ages.

Saturday, March 10

Spring Plant Symposium 

Eight dynamic speakers will present a potpourri of topics ranging from cultivating well-being in the garden and rehabilitating historical gardens to creating your own succulent garden. The event will also include a plant sale and exhibit area where local farmers and horticultural organizations will share information and sell products from 9 am – 4:30 pm. Admission to the plant sale and exhibit area is free. Attendance to the symposium presentations and demonstrations requires garden admission to Magnolia.

Charleston Fashion Week

Held under the tents in Marion Square, this five-night event features more than 35 runway shows, interactive entertainment, and chic after-parties.

Charleston Repeats Spring/Summer Sale

This is one of the biggest consignment sales of the year in the Lowcountry! It is a fun way to bring moms together as they clean out closets and prepare for the next stage in the lives of their children.

Catch the Leprechaun 5K

This scenic race offers spectacular views of the Cooper River Bridge, USS Yorktown, and Charleston Harbor. Stick around for the post-race festivities, including live music and a pot of gold for the winners and prizes for everyone who finishes before the leprechaun.

Third Thursdays in Summerville

On the third Thursday of each month, downtown Summerville becomes a prime spot for live entertainment, special offers from restaurants, shopping, and local music.

Fashion at the Farm

Summerville Family YMCA Shamrock Shuffle

By participating in this hometown favorite event, you are not only getting your exercise, but also raising funds to support health and wellness programs at the Y. The race features a 5K, 10K, and a one-mile Fun Run.

Rugged Maniac Obstacle Course

More than just your average mud run, this event’s got a whole lot in store! From a mechanical bull and beach volleyball, to trampolines and water slides, you’re definitely going to need your energy for this one. Stick around after the course for a pie-eating contest, live music, and much more!

Saturday, March 17

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Welcome back to South Carolina’s biggest and best St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Metro Charleston celebrates the holy day in a traditional manner. The day begins at 8:00 am with a celebratory mass at St. Patrick’s Church. The parade along with its thousands of participants and watchers begins at 10:00 am sharp at King and Radcliffe Streets and proceeds down King to Broad with the conclusion at the Cathedral of St. Johns. The parade includes local schools, step dancers, fiddlers, fire trucks, military units, local pro team mascots and some of the Lowcountry’s most famous Irish residents.

Thursday, March 22


The iFiveK race is a favorite run and networking event for Charleston’s tech professionals. Since its 2007 debut with 250 participants, the iFiveK grew to 1,124 registrants in 2017. Proceeds from the iFiveK support CODEcamp and CODEcamp Kids scholarships and other education-related programming. Open to the public.

Harlem Globetrotters at the Coliseum
