Do you have young kids who are learning to brush their teeth? I do! Sometimes proper dental hygiene is a challenge for young children, but it is essential from an early age to encourage healthy habits.  Parents often wonder when they should begin brushing their children’s teeth, when to take them for their first dentist visit, what kind of toothbrush and toothpaste to use and how often. Our friends at Children’s Dentistry are committed to educating children and parents about the importance of strong oral hygiene habits and making it fun!

Both of my girls visited the dentist before they turned a year old. My nine month old recently had her first visit with pediatric dentist, Dr. Rebecca Ward with Children’s Dentistry of Charleston.  Our oldest gets cleanings and checkups every six months and has also had cavities filled with  Dr. Ward.  Dr. Ward has always made sure we are doing what is best for our children and encourages great at home oral care.

My daughter loves the office.  The hygienists are fantastic, soft spoken and kind.  She enjoys receiving a small prize after each cleaning and can play video games while we talk to the dentist.  The office is extremely kid friendly with colorful decor, fun and engaging play spaces.  The wait times are minimal and you are given undivided attention.  This office also caters to special needs children and will ensure they have private visits if needed.

Patients can’t help but smile when they visit Children’s Dentistry. They cover all pediatric dental needs, from the tiniest teeth cared for by their specialty trained pediatric dentists, all the way to general dentistry for teens. When their teeth are this cared for, the smiles just won’t stop.

Dr. Ward is a wonderful dentist as well as a mother of two small children.  She’s professional and maternal.  She has a passion for helping mothers breastfeed.  In July, she is taking a course at Tufts University called “Pediatric Tongue and Lip Tie Diagnosis” where she will become certified to treat these conditions in the office with a tissue laser.

We are very glad to call Children’s Dentistry of Charleston our pediatric dental home. Here is a little about the practice and a new patient special!

The practice has been around since 1977, so we are deeply rooted in the community. Several of our doctors and staff have been around since the beginning and consider the team like family. The highlight of our job is not only making a difference in the child’s smiles, but also getting to know the patients and the families and actually watching the children grow up over the years into confident young adults. We are, in fact, Where Smiles Grow.

Children’s Dentistry of Charleston has three locations in West Ashley, North Charleston, and Summerville.
